They have an indoor picnic area so you can take a packed lunch (open weekends 12-2). They have a few interactive bits such as a tortoise statue you can sit on and dressing up clothes. There is plenty to see and you can grab a clipboard, paper and pencil when you get there so the kids can draw some of the animals as you go around. They have a huge collection of animals including lions, monkeys and dogs as well as so much more, all spaced across 6 galleries. It isn’t for everyone, essentially its a massive taxidermy exhibit, but the kids enjoy it! Info – Tring NH Museum was built over 100 years ago to house the zoological collections of Walter Rothschild. Parking – There are 2 free car parks for the museum. It really does have a lovely relaxed and spacious feel to it and has indoor picnic areas which are always a bonus in my book! They also have an indoor play area, demonstrations and hands on experiences, a maze and ride on cars with a great looking track! The tractor and trailer ride is very long which is nice and it goes into the large field at the back of the park so you can be amongst the cows. The parks there are very good, my girls were actually sad to leave them and there have a really good sand pit and water play area. Its great for under 10s and has everything you would want from a farm including a barn, animal feeding and a variety of animals. Info – Odds Farm offers a HUGE space to play. Parking – There is plenty of free parking onsite Price – At the moment ticket prices are their off peak prices so are £10.95 per person (under 2s are free). You can also visit a hedge maze which my girls really enjoyed. The house and gardens are beautiful (thought when visiting with kids I personally don’t think that visiting the house is necessary) and they have a Dinosaur trail which is home to 70 life size dinosaur statues. There are large slides, a bouncy castle and a water play area as well as lots of other bits to explore. The park and Fort Knebworth are amazing – my daughter said she liked that they had a lot of equipment there that she hasn’t seen anywhere else. Info – I have always liked Knebworth House, the vibe is lovely and it is a really nice family day out. Parking – There is plenty of free parking available on site. If you would like to visit the house there is a small extra cost per person. A family ticket (4 people) is £36 excluding the house. Price – Entry excluding the house is £10 (under 3s are free).
